Robert (Bob) Chaundy
Ceramic Artist
Lives in Mount Gretna.
Bob Chaundy is a self-taught ceramic artist who has been making pottery for over 50 years. Working primarily in porcelain and stoneware, he hand-throws his pieces and fires them to Cone 10 in his gas-fired kiln, often using reduction techniques to add depth and character. He also creates raku pottery in an outdoor kiln, which gives his work distinctive surfaces and finishes.
Bob’s work has a long-standing presence among collectors, with signed pieces from the 1980s and 1990s occasionally coming up in vintage and resale circles. His studio practice is deeply hands-on, with multiple throwing wheels inside his home and a range of kilns in his garage and outdoors, each serving different uses and firing techniques.
A longtime presence in the Mount Gretna community, Bob has lived in the Campmeeting neighborhood for the past 14 years, where he continues to maintain his working studio. He remains connected with the local arts scene through the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts.
Bob offers private appointments for visitors to see his work and sells directly from his home studio, welcoming those interested in experiencing his pottery firsthand.
